What happens to the photos if it rains on your wedding day

Rain is the most common worry in every planning call. In the north it is also the most common weather. Here is what we do about it.

About one wedding in three I photograph has rain at some point. Here is the plan.

Before the day

On the planning call we find two covered places at your venue with good light: a barn door, a porch, a wide window. I scout them on the morning.

On the day

Clear umbrellas, not branded golf ones. Portraits move to whichever gap in the rain arrives; I watch the radar so you do not have to. Grey light is soft and flattering, and wet stone and grass look darker and richer.

After

Rain often gives the best pictures in the gallery. Ellie and Sam’s wedding in this gallery was rained on until five.
